A lot of people think the stock market is just luck, like playing cards or a coin toss. But it isn’t the same thing.
When you buy a stock, you own a small piece of a company. If the company grows and makes profits, your share in the company grows in value too. It's not based on chance but rather on how the business performs.
Yes, in the short term, prices can go up and down quickly. That’s why it sometimes feels like gambling. But if you look at the stock market over many years, it has almost always grown. Long-term investors benefit from that overall growth, while gamblers focus only on short-term swings.
So the stock market is actually a tool for building wealth over time, not a form of gambling.
